Mini Vinnies Support Local Food Bank
Yesterday, two of our Mini Vinnies visited the local food bank to deliver the generous donations collected by our school community. During their visit, the donations were weighed, and we were delighted to learn that our collection will provide the equivalent of 109 meals for people in need. This is a wonderful achievement and a reflection of the kindness and generosity shown by our pupils, families and staff.
Fun at The Pumpkin Patch!
Our Early Years children had a fantastic morning in The Pumpkin Patch, enjoying a range of fun and engaging autumn-themed activities. The children explored the pumpkins in lots of different ways, including weighing, painting and washing them. These hands-on experiences helped to develop their curiosity, creativity and early mathematical skills while celebrating the season.
Celebrating Black History Month Through Music and Storytelling
What a fantastic way to celebrate Black History Month at St Bega's! Today, we were delighted to welcome Gina from Transformers Hartlepool to school, who led a series of engaging African drumming and storytelling workshops for our pupils.
Early Years Enjoy Baking Hedgehog Bread!
As part of their Autumn topic, our Early Years pupils have been getting hands-on in the kitchen by baking their very own hedgehog bread! The children carefully weighed, kneaded and rolled the dough before using scissors to snip spikes into their hedgehog-shaped buns. This fun activity helped develop their baking skills while bringing their learning to life.

Early Years Autumn Adventure at Ward Jackson Park
Our Early Years children enjoyed a wonderful morning exploring the signs of the changing season during an exciting Autumn Walk to Ward Jackson Park. With keen eyes and great enthusiasm, the children set off in search of autumn treasures, looking beneath fallen leaves and among the trees to discover the many wonders that this beautiful season brings. From colourful leaves to natural treasures found along the way, there was plenty to explore and discuss.
St Bega's Launches Partnership with Alice House Hospice
Pupils at St Bega's Catholic Primary School were delighted to welcome a special visitor this week as Gil from Alice House Hospice came to introduce himself and share more about the hospice's important work in the local community. As part of the school's charitable and community-focused activities this year, St Bega's is proud to be supporting Alice House Hospice through a range of fundraising events and initiatives. The first of these will be a Coffee Afternoon taking place next Wednesday, where the school community will have the opportunity to come together and raise funds for this wonderful cause.
Year 1 Scientists Explore How Plants Grow
Pupils in Year 1 at St Bega's Catholic Primary School have been developing their scientific curiosity as they began a new topic exploring how plants start to grow. As part of their science learning, the children planted seeds and discussed what plants need in order to grow and thrive. They are now looking forward to observing the changes that take place over the coming weeks as their seeds begin to develop.

St Bega's Families Invited to Take Part in Great British Beach Clean
Families at St Bega's Catholic Primary School are being encouraged to take part in the Great British Beach Clean over the weekend of 18th September 2026. As part of the national initiative, children will take home a bag and gloves to help them get involved in a local beach clean with their families. The event is a fantastic opportunity to spend time outdoors while helping to protect our coastline and local wildlife.
Early Years Pupils Enjoy a Fantastic Start
Children in Early Years at St Bega's Catholic Primary School have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new school year, settling into their new environment with enthusiasm and curiosity. Over the first few days, pupils have been busy exploring a range of exciting activities designed to support learning through play. One of the highlights has been the new veterinary role-play area, where children have been caring for poorly animals and using their imaginations to develop communication and social skills.
Year 1 Pupils Step Back in Time at Preston Park
Year 1 pupils from St Bega’s Catholic Primary School enjoyed an exciting educational visit to Preston Park, where they explored life in the past through hands-on experiences and historical discoveries. During the trip, the children took part in the Toys in the Past workshop, learning about the different toys children would have played with in previous generations. The session gave pupils the opportunity to compare toys from the past and present, helping to bring their classroom learning to life.
Year 6 Explore Future Pathways at Careers Day
St Bega’s Primary School is celebrating a successful and inspiring Year 6 Careers Day, where pupils had the opportunity to explore a wide range of future pathways and ambitions. The event gave children valuable insight into different professions, as they met visiting speakers who shared their personal journeys and experiences. From the creative industries to public services and beyond, pupils were introduced to a variety of exciting possibilities for the future.
