On Friday 3rd July 2026, two important visitors came in and held sessions with multiple classes, sharing their drumming skills. All the classes learned different and unique drumming patterns on the drum pad. This is called 'Drumba'.

Year 1 Pupils Step Back in Time at Preston Park

Year 1 pupils from St Bega’s Catholic Primary School enjoyed an exciting educational visit to Preston Park, where they explored life in the past through hands-on experiences and historical discoveries. During the trip, the children took part in the Toys in the Past workshop, learning about the different toys children would have played with in previous generations. The session gave pupils the opportunity to compare toys from the past and present, helping to bring their classroom learning to life.

Year 1 Explore Materials in Science

This week in Science, our Year 1 children have been busy comparing different objects, materials and their properties! The children worked thoughtfully to group materials, considering their properties and deciding how best to sort them. They used a range of scientific vocabulary to describe what they observed and gave clear reasons for their choices.
