This week, our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils have been learning all about the incredible life and work of Sir David Attenborough as he celebrates his 100th birthday. As part of their learning, the children carried out research and created detailed fact files, discovering fascinating information about his achievements, his passion for wildlife and his dedication to protecting our planet.
Puzzle & Play Club: Fun, Creativity and Teamwork
Our KS1 children have been having a fantastic time at Puzzle and Play Club, where learning and fun go hand in hand! From tackling jigsaw puzzles to exploring building challenges and engaging in imaginative games, pupils have been developing their problem-solving skills, creativity and teamwork in an enjoyable and supportive environment.
Bega’s Beauty Salon Officially Opens!
Excitement has been building in Early Years at St Bega’s as Bega’s Beauty Salon is now officially open for business! Our Early Years children have been having a fantastic time exploring the salon, using their imagination and role-play skills to brush, style and pamper. The space has quickly become a hub of creativity, where children are developing communication, confidence and teamwork while enjoying their play.

Springtime Learning in EYFS!
Spring has arrived in EYFS, and our children have been busy exploring the wonderful world of life cycles! One of the most exciting moments this term has been watching our chicks hatch. The children were completely captivated as they observed the tiny cracks appear, the first little movements, and finally the fluffy chicks emerging from their shells. It’s been a magical, real-life learning experience that they’ll remember for a long time.
Growing Together in Reception
Our Reception children have had a wonderful time learning all about how plants grow, and their excitement reached new heights as they planted their very own sunflower seeds. The classroom was filled with curiosity as the children explored what plants need to thrive, from sunlight and water to care and patience.
Year 6 Step Back in Time at the Heugh Battery Museum
Year 6 have enjoyed a truly memorable day visiting the Heugh Battery Museum, where they deepened their understanding of World War One through hands‑on learning and real historical surroundings. The visit brought their classroom work to life as they explored stories from the Bombardment of Hartlepool, discovered what life was like in the trenches, and learned more about the soldiers who served during this period.

Today marked an exciting moment at St Bega’s as we launched our brand‑new Super Speaker certificates as part of our House Saint’s Day celebrations! These special certificates are awarded to children who are growing in confidence and developing their oracy skills — an important part of helping our pupils find their voices and express themselves clearly and proudly.

St Bega’s Pupils Begin Their Journey as Media Correspondents
This week marked an exciting milestone at St Bega’s Catholic Primary School in Hartlepool, as pupils took their first steps into the world of news reporting through the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust Media Correspondent programme. The Trust’s Media and Marketing team visited school to officially launch the initiative and introduce our new student reporters to the role.
