Year 1 pupils from St Bega’s Catholic Primary School enjoyed an exciting educational visit to Preston Park, where they explored life in the past through hands-on experiences and historical discoveries.

During the trip, the children took part in the Toys in the Past workshop, learning about the different toys children would have played with in previous generations. The session gave pupils the opportunity to compare toys from the past and present, helping to bring their classroom learning to life.

The visit also included time exploring the museum, where pupils discovered a range of fascinating exhibits and learned more about local history.

One of the highlights of the day was a walk along the recreated Victorian Street, where the children enjoyed seeing the traditional shops and imagining what life would have been like during Victorian times. Pupils also had great fun taking part in role-play activities in the popular All Aboard Experience, immersing themselves in the sights and sounds of the past.

The trip provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of history through first-hand experiences while creating lasting memories with their classmates.

Everyone had a wonderful time, and the visit was a fantastic way to support Year 1's learning beyond the classroom.
